The People of Faith with the Mission of the Age (Heb. 11:32-40)

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God

The People of Faith with the Mission of the Age (Heb. 11:32-40)

Speaker Pastor Dusun Park | Interpreter Tiffany Han

Let us bless one another, Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God.  I hope that the unprecedented, never repeated blessings of God be upon the individuals and families that are worshiping in the church, especially out of state, and in their homes. Hebrews 11 is talking about the content of faith.  This is the conclusion of Hebrews 11, with the verses we read today, 32-40.  The title of today’s message is, “The People of Faith with the Mission of the Age.”

In order to know the mission of the age, you have to know the world.  It may seem that if you study a lot, you can know the world, but we cannot know the true world.  We may know the things that we study and the work we are doing, but we don’t know the real world, and because we don’t know the real world, we’re taken in by it.  Even though we’re smart, we’re taken in by it.  Why?  Because we don’t know the real world, we’re dragged into the stream of the world.  The older we are, the more of the world we’ve experienced, but we’ve only experienced the external things of the world.  There is another real world.

1. World – Age

  1) Stream

Age by age, there is a stream in the world.  You have to know that stream in order for you to not go into that stream.

    (1) Centered on me (Gen. 3:5)

Ever since humans sinned against God, the stream of the world is that, “I am God,” and that means everything begins from me.

    (2) Centered on physical things (Gen. 6:3)

That’s the current stream of the world, and because everything starts with me, I have to follow the physical benefits of the world and make my decisions based on what I think is good.  I made this decision thinking it was good, but it was actually harmful.  I thought this was a benefit to me, but later on, it turns out to not be the case.

    (3) Centered on success (Gen. 11:4)

Why is that? Because we don’t know what the world is. It’s not because we’re uneducated, it’s not because we don’t have logic. People walk the path according to the plans they make.  That’s the stream in which the world flows.  All the knowledge we’ve learned in the world is simply on top of that flow, but you have to know the stream in order to know people.

  2) Religion

    (1) Me – Idolatry (Ex. 20:4)

In the Old Testament, they had religious wars. Back in those days, the idols were whatever god they believed in. From our perspective, it’s hard to understand. Because of our scientific advancements, people are able to conquer nature.  Before people were able to control nature, they had to beg to nature, and that became their god.  Praying for rain, begging to stop storms, praying for abundant children; they had no choice but to serve idols for themselves.

That’s what God told the Israelites not to do in Exodus 20:4, “Do not make an idol for yourselves.” Now that we have scientific advancements to control nature, people have become the gods.  Look at the world nowadays, science, technology, and everything is exalting the power of mankind; humans control nature. If nature does not give us rain, we can create artificial rain. If nature changes a certain way, we can make agricultural technologies to redirect it, so science and humans have become idols; knowledge has become the idol because that makes money and that’s everything you need to live in the world.

    (2) Me – Meditation (Mt. 12:44)

Because of that, people are beginning to suffer.  We lose ourselves so now people are in an age where people are trying to find themselves.  Transcendental meditation is something that started thousands of years ago with the Hindu religion.  It started thousands and thousands of years ago, the idea of transcending yourself and finding your true self, and people are doing it even now.  People live their lives centered on themselves, but there’s no way for them to make it by themselves, so they made transcendental meditation popular.  You empty yourself and find your true self.

Because people are so confused and mentally conflicted, they empty themselves.  I was talking about this in the first service, and someone told me that they’re making people do transcendental meditation in the police department downtown.  They requested to allow people to do transcendental meditation in their department, and the leadership said no.  But if you don’t know what transcendental meditation is, they would have just permitted this.  People don’t try to do Bible study in such a formal way, but they do it with transcendental meditation.  But because we don’t know the truth about transcendental meditation, it is seizing the culture.

In Matthew 12, it says that meditation is about emptying yourself. Matthew 12:44, that’s what Buddhists do, they empty themselves to become Buddha.  Because your thoughts are so complicated, you empty your thoughts, so you close your eyes and breathe through your nose.  Then instead of these other thoughts, you’re only focused on one thought, then people are healed.  But the problem comes after that.  If you empty yourself in this way, the devil works upon you, and that’s Satan’s method, but this is such a trend in America.  People block you from proclaiming the gospel but if you say you’ll do transcendental meditation, everyone supports you.

    (3) Religion

It’s the same thing with religion, why do people choose a religion?  In order to find themselves or in order to protect themselves.  This is the stream the world is currently flowing in.  People who are in this stream will make money, because people are making money, following this stream as well.  Google, Steve Jobs, all of these people are making money through this stream, so if you don’t know this, you’ll be dragged around by the world and be unable to make money.

Human beings are composed of a spirit, mind, and body, but because this is the stream, we are spiritually seized by Satan.

  3) Snare – Suffering

    (1) Satan (Jn. 8:44)

Jn. 8:44 says your father, the Devil, is a murderer and a liar from the beginning.  This is invisible.  In Genesis 3, Satan went into the serpent and controlled the thoughts and hearts of people. Because the devil is our father, we have no choice but to serve idols for ourselves.  The method for serving the devil is by serving idols.  A lot of Korean parents give ancestral worship, but you’re not worshiping your parents or ancestors; it’s actually the devil.  The deceased person doesn’t give you blessings; blessings come from God.  When you worship, God’s blessings come upon you.

    (2) Spiritual problems (Ex. 20:4-5, Col. 3:5)

This spiritual problem is invisible. We’re spiritual beings, so if our spirit has a problem, it’s invisible, but this goes into our spirit or our mind.  Then, my soul will go into a repetitive problem that I cannot stop.  This turns into a mental problem to the extent where it’s visible, for example, revealing itself through depression.  That depression already began through spiritual problems.   Parents say, “My child was not always like this, but all of a sudden, they changed.”  That parent is spiritually ignorant.  That baby’s spiritual state already began in the womb and has continued until this point.  It’s simply that it’s being revealed now because your child is old enough to understand things and to speak for themselves, but if you’re not aware of this, it means you’re not even aware of your own problems. This didn’t happen all of a sudden, it was always the case. That’s the spiritual family line, and that goes all the way up to Adam and Eve. This then reveals itself as physical problems in the lives we live in society. These are the problems we see and know.

    (3) Mental problems (Mt. 11:28)

If someone is successful or elite, they will cover up their problems with glory, honor, success, and accomplishments. Even though on the inside, they’re so severely afflicted by spiritual and mental problems. The only way they can resolve their problems is to go towards drugs and alcohol, but people on the outside don’t know this at all. It’s only like this when you go deep inside.

This is the world, but if you don’t see this as the world and you follow the world, thinking it’s something else, we’ll get trapped in it, and this is relayed to the next generation.  There’s no doubt about it; whatever problems you have now have flowed down your family line. If you cannot see this, then your ministry cannot take place and you cannot save people, because humans are created by their spirit and their body.

    (4) Physical problems (Ac. 8:4-8)

But we only look at the physical, “What does this person look like and act like?” But we don’t know the state of their soul, we don’t see their inner state. Furthermore, we cannot see their spiritual state. A person is composed of their spirit, mind, and body, but you’re only looking at the physical, so you’re making a misjudgment; the problems started from their inner spirit, but we don’t know that. Children, look at the problems you will face by looking at the problems your parents have, and parents can see their own problems when they look at the problems their kids have.

What is this problem? It’s an invisible spiritual problem that is revealing itself visibly. Just because you take drugs doesn’t mean it goes away; this problem doesn’t go away if you move houses.  The problem doesn’t go away even if you move to another country. The problem doesn’t go away if you use some kind of talisman or charm.

    (5) Afterlife problems (Heb. 9:27)

After you die, it’s a spiritual problem. It’s an eternal problem.  This is the world currently and you have to know the world to study and work properly.

    (6) Future generation problems (Mt. 27:25)

If you don’t know the world, you’ll work so hard just to be dragged into the world. You make money so diligently but you have a problem that cannot be solved with money. This is the world and life.  This is the world that doesn’t change, only the external form changes, age by age.

2. Age- The world was not worthy of them (Heb. 11:38)

Among the people who are living in this kind of world, we are talking about the people of faith. What kind of faith did these people have?  First and foremost, they have a faith that knows God and has met God.  Do you meet God just by saying, “God”?  You cannot meet God just by saying, “God.” If you say “God,” does that mean God is answering you?  That word answering you is not God.

  1) One who has the covenant

    (1) Offspring of the woman (Gen 3:15)

Believing in God means you believe in God’s covenant in Gen. 3:15, the offspring of the woman. In the National Korean anthem, they use the word, “God.” Do you think that everyone who sings that anthem knows God?  Americans say, “Oh my God,” do you think everyone who says that really knows God?  Do you think that if you just sit at church, you really know God?  The people of faith knew who God was because they knew God’s covenant.

Those who have seen Jesus have seen God. The words of Jesus are the words of God, but Who is Jesus?  The One Who was prophesied in Gen. 3:15 has come to earth, so believing in the One Who was prophesied is faith, the offspring of the woman will crush the head of Satan. All people are seized by Satan so there’s no way for us to escape. People who don’t believe in this don’t believe in God.  God is invisible to our eyes; the Holy Spirit is invisible, and Satan is also invisible. But if you don’t believe in this, it means you don’t believe in the Bible.

These people don’t have spiritual strength because they don’t believe. Satan works abundantly upon them because they don’t have faith. Without a doubt, they will be confused.  They will be deceived easily by the words of people because they don’t know.

    (2) Sacrificial offering (Ex 3:18)

Ex. 3:18, the only way to meet God is with this blood sacrifice. Can we meet God just by trying to meet God? No, it must be by the message God gave us in His Word.  There must be a perfect Lamb Who dies on my behalf, that’s how much we don’t have a method to solve our own sin.

    (3) Immanuel (Acts 7:14)

Then Isaiah 7:14, this covenant has come to us as Immanuel, God with us.  The content we read today is about the people of faith who believed in this covenant; it simply means you’ve become children of God, but that’s not enough. You have to know the problem of this age.  Yes, you are a child of God by God’s grace; you do not receive salvation by your good actions, you do not receive salvation by your good thoughts. Even before I knew anything about God, God had already predestined me to receive salvation, then what’s important next?

  2) Mission of this Age – Faith

What is the problem of the age?  The one who received God’s covenant and the one who knows the problem of this age will be used by God.  Back in the biblical times, there were religious wars with God. These idol worshiping and demon worshiping nations attacked the people of God. Then, the ones who are used in faith are the ones who believed in God’s covenant and fought back against those nations.

    (1) Conquered kingdoms (Heb. 11:33)

That’s why it says in Heb. 11:33, that through faith, they conquered kingdoms.  That means that when the Gentiles and idol worshipers came and attacked the Jehovah God saying their god was true, the people of the covenant blocked it with faith. These are the people who through faith administered justice by shouting the Word of God. They gained what was promised, and this is plural because God gave them promises.  The people who received His promise will understand it and fulfill it.

Then, these are the people who knew what the problem of the age was.  If you don’t know this, then you’re bound to live a walk of faith that is only for yourself.  Even when you pray, you’re bound to continually pray for yourself. God is already fighting for me, but we keep wasting useless prayers.  In Ex. 20, God is saying, “I am the LORD your God who is guiding you out of Egypt, why are you serving an idol for yourself?”  The people who know this well take on the mission God desires for this age.

    (2) Shut the mouth of lions (Heb. 11:33)

They shut the mouths of lions, this is talking about Daniel. Daniel was taken captive to Babylon. He was so smart, the Babylonians wanted to use his knowledge and intelligence for their nation. America has the same exact strategy, they take all the gifted individuals from other nations and give them positions and money here so their skills are used in America.  Because the entire nation is serving idols, they all have to bow down to the idols the king worshiped.  Daniel was able to read the age.  Why was Israel destroyed and taken captive to Babylon? It’s because of idolatry. The people who know the problem of the age and the reason for the age are bound to have the faith that God desires.

He refused to eat the food that was offered to the idols, then he had to die in the lion’s den.  But he chose to go into the lion’s den because more so than being afraid of the lions, he knew what would happen if he fell into idolatry.  We are not afraid of death because everyone is bound to die; everyone has to die once, then how will you die? Make the decision of faith because everyone is bound to die once, and God shut the mouths of the lions and saved him.

    (3) Quenched the fury of the flames (Heb. 11:34)

Daniel’s three friends went into the fury of the flames because they refused to bow down to idols. “How could they go into the fire?”  For such people asking this, they have less faith and more fear.  Why did they refuse to bow to idols? Because when we serve idols, we face more disasters.  They knew the reason why God brought the Israelites as captives to Babylon, then they said, “I refuse to bow to idols and will only serve the LORD God. Then throw us into the fire because we’re going to die eventually, anyway.  Whether I die in a fire or disease or from old age, my life is controlled by God, so if now is my time to go, may the LORD do so.”

They even have faith to give their life over because God controls their life.  There’s no reason to tremble or shake trying to survive.  Everyone dies once anyways, and that life is determined by God, so the difference is, are you going to die in faith or are you going to die as a coward without any faith? There’s no reason to avoid or fear COVID. Of course, keep your masks on and maintain social distancing, but while you’re doing this, live your life in the faith of what God is doing now.

If you’re always avoiding the pandemic, when will you live? If you’re always avoiding financial problems, how will you live?  If you’re always avoiding your circumstances, when will you live?  Heb. 11:33 is God working upon people who have the faith of the problem of this age, and what God is doing about it now.  Sometimes they were put to death by the sword.  King Saul followed David around with an army for 10 years to kill him, and it started because of Saul’s jealousy. It was a very simple problem where he wanted to make his son the next king rather than his son-in-law, but David did not do anything to King Saul because God raised up King Saul.

    (4) Covenant – Turned to strength (Heb. 11:34)

    (5) Routed foreign armies in battle (Heb. 11:34)

Sometimes, God raises up people who have no strength to make them strong.  Some became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. The leaders of war like Barak and Jephthah.

  3) Mission of this Age – Faith

    (1) Death- Received through resurrection (Heb 11:35)

Heb. 11:35 says, “Women received back their dead raised back to life again.”

    (2) Prison – Test (Heb 11:36)

There were others who refused to be released so they may gain a better resurrection.  They refused release because they knew they were going to die anyway, and this way, they received a better gift from God.  There was a war in the time period between the Old and New Testament, and at that time, there was a king who went in to attack Israel.  The way this king would attack the people is that they would first pluck out their eyes, then they would skin them, take out their organs, and make everyone watch as they killed everyone like this, one by one.

Of course, because she saw her family being killed, this woman’s heart was moved. She saw her five sons being killed, and what did this mother say? She told her children, “Do not bat an eye. If they take their eye, let them take it. Because God will give us a better resurrection. If God wants to take something from you, give it to God.  It seems like this person is stealing your eyes from you, but God gave you your eyes and God will take them away, so give them to God.”  This was recorded about this war.

    (3) Destitute, persecuted, mistreated (Heb 11:37)

Jeremiah was weeping and lamenting as he delivered the Word of God because the nation was so desolate, and he was put into prison because of this. Instead of receiving God’s Word, they imprisoned the prophet because they thought he was a spy and he died there.  Isaiah was a very famous prophet in the age of King Hezekiah, and Amos was the son with a very good royal background.

After King Hezekiah passed away, there was another king that came to power who led the entire nation into wickedness and idolatry.  The Prophet Isaiah was very smart and knowledgeable, he was over 100 years old and spoke words that were correct, so the new king sent an army to kill the Prophet Isaiah. Isaiah is so old, and he runs away from the army and hides in a hollowed-out tree.  Because the tree is hollow, you can see him hiding inside, so God puts bark around the tree and hides him, but if you look at the bottom of the tree, you could see Isaiah’s cloak, so the soldiers reported this to the king, and the king said, “Cut down this tree and bring him here.” Of course, because they cut the tree trunk, they cut through Isaiah’s body, and that’s how people were cut in half.

These people didn’t die this way because they wanted to, but they knew the conclusion of what would happen if Israel did not return to God’s Word. Some people were flogged and mocked, some people were put into chains and imprisoned, some people were living in caves and holes in the ground.  Heb. 11:38 says the world was not worthy of them, so no matter what the world says or does, such people don’t react to that.

From the perspective of the world, these people are troublesome because there’s no way to get through to them. If you take away their houses, these people of faith will run away and live in caves, so the world is using all their methods to get through to the people of faith, but they cannot.  From another perspective, you realize the world has no value to the people of faith, so Satan is trying to tempt these people with the values of the world, but it doesn’t get through to them.

This faith has been relayed to us through the works of the people of faith.  The reason the churches of Korea are being used is because there are so many martyrs. Korea is the nation with the most Christian martyrs.  These Christians were martyred during the 36 years of Japanese colonial rule, and when Communism spread into Korea, there were so many Christian martyrs.  This faith has come all the way to the Korean churches today. Korea is a nation that is so small but does so many missions.  It’s even more so in America because it began on a foundation of faith.  Missionaries are sent out to different nations, dying for the gospel. Even right now, all the nations that used to be so strong and rejected the Word of God are legally killing people right now. The people of faith don’t die because they want to die, but as they hold onto their faith and do God’s work, they face death.

Stephen gave a sermon, telling the Jewish people that they were the ones who killed the Messiah, and he was stoned to death because of that.  When he gave that message, Stephen was filled with the Holy Spirit, and that’s when the Word of God went out through him and hit the hearts of the people listening, and that’s why Stephen was stoned to death.  But if we just look at the fact that he was stoned to death, we think, “Oh, that must have hurt.”  We think, “Oh, if I’m tortured like that, I would completely give up my stance, I would give up everything.”  It means that as people of God, we still believe in Jesus Christ, but these acts of faith can only be done by someone who knows and believes what happens in this age.

The disease is not the problem, but the fundamental disease is the real problem, and these people have seen that. The cancer you have itself is not the problem because everyone is destined to die once. This person must be spiritually saved and fundamentally blessed by God.  What is the problem of this age?  Be the businesspeople and students who know that. It will come to you as faith, and this is the person God uses. That’s the content of today’s Bible verse. Age by age, there were ages where God works with such strength and victory, and there were ages where the people of faith lost their lives or lived such weak lives.

    (4) Did not receive what was promised (Heb 11:39)

It says that these people did not receive what was promised because they did not see Jesus. They were the ones who held onto and received the promise of Jesus Christ in faith.

    (5) Planned something better (Heb 11:40)

In Heb. 11:40, it says they believed God had something better for them, so this world isn’t the problem; there’s something greater prepared. Everyone dies once, but how will you die?  Will you die a coward because of disbelief, or will you die with faith?  Will you die trembling in fear because of financial problems as an unbeliever, or will you live for the covenant with faith, with God’s mission for the age?  God will work upon such people.

3. Now – Age

What is the age we are living in today? You have to know the age in order to know what God desires.  Why were we born in this age? You have to know the reason and the problem of this age, then. All the people we talked about in the Old Testament knew the problem of the age and were used in that age. What is the problem of the current age?  They are saying, “What are you saying, ‘believe in God’? People are the main. I’m important, I have to choose what I think is important; why would I choose based on God’s Word? I have to chase after what I desire or what I think is good, why would I follow Jesus? I have to keep watching content that strengthens me on Youtube, why would I go into God’s Word instead?”

This is the age we live in, but we don’t know we are lost in here, it’s to the point where even if you listen to God’s Word, you cannot follow it because, “I want to follow what I want.” We have to hold onto the people who benefit us; I have to choose a person who looks good to me. That’s the current age, and this has become the culture.  It means the entire world is flowing in this way at the same time.

What do you think God desires in this age?  We have to choose not what I like, but what God likes.  “I read this book and it gave me strength,” not that strength; you have to receive God’s strength. “Oh, this is what I have to do in life?” Not about your plan, but God’s plan.  Every person like this, without exception, is used by God.

In order to know this age, you have to be someone who knows and believes that Jesus finished all problems on the cross.  If you have an incorrect start, you have no choice but to be sucked into the world. The fact that Jesus Christ finished everything means he has prepared everything perfectly until the day I go to heaven and He has called me.  If you don’t understand what these words mean, let’s say, when Jesus Christ brought the Israelites out of Egypt, He had already prepared the Canaan conquest. This means God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, already having prepared to split the Red Sea. God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, already having prepared the way to traverse the wilderness, and that’s why everything is finished.

God has prepared a way through making disciples of all nations, and He has called us. The one who has this faith can see the problem of this age and give the answer.  These people do not shake in problems because they know what the real problem is.  Sometimes they will even incur a loss because they don’t want to lose hold of the real thing. That’s the same thing with the people of faith in the Old Testament.

Why did they refuse to bow down to idols and give up their life instead? It’s because they knew what their real problem is.  God will use the people who know what the real problem of America is; until then, we’re bound to be sucked into the stream of America. That person cannot be used because they’re struggling by themselves.  They are in the stream of Satan that always makes them centered on themselves.  When I watch movies, read books, or watch videos, it’s all about self-centeredness.  This age where we are bound to follow after the things that appear big, grand, and strong. People are getting plastic surgery to look beautiful in order to make money.  It’s not a bad thing but people are getting sucked into it; it’s what happens when people don’t see the real things.

  1) Mission of the age – Faith

    (1) It is finished – Received what is promised (Jn. 19:30)

    (2) God’s kingdom (Ac. 1:3)

    (3) Holy Spirit – Witness (Ac. 1:8)

Christ has finished all problems, we have to like this so much that we follow after this, but if we follow after something we like, that’s the beginning of all problems.  God gave us the greatest plan to establish God’s Kingdom, but instead we’re only following our own plans. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit, there is no greater power, but we think something else is stronger, so that’s a problem. More so than being strengthened by the Word of God, we’re strengthened by reading success stories of successful people, thinking we can do the same thing. The people in the world have to use other people to make more money.  You have to know the world in order to make money. We don’t make money that way, we’re talking about the economy that God works upon us because of God’s mission, we’re talking about the studies that are used for God’s mission.

  2) Save the world

    (1) Healing (Mt. 16:15-20)

Mk. 16 tells us that people are diseased so go and heal them.

    (2) Disciple (Mt. 28:18-20)

Go and make disciples of all nations. How do I make a disciple? They are already prepared. How can I heal? Just give them the Word, God will do the healing.

    (3) Future generation (Jn. 21:15-18)

Jn. 21, heal the future generations because things will get harder for them.  Open your eyes to see this and become interested in the next generations.  The parents must be awake. If the parents are within the flow of the world, how can they save their kids?  Starting from the family, they keep putting their kids into the stream of me, success, and money. That’s the reason they go to church, too, but that’s not a church; that’s religion.  You need to have the gospel of life to change over those kinds of things.

    (4) 24 prayer (Ac. 1:14)

The people who have this covenant gathered in Mark’s Upper Room and devoted themselves to prayer, Acts 1:14. That’s what we call 24 hour prayer, holding onto the mission of God’s Kingdom. That is prayer; religious people think that murmuring under your breath is prayer. Even right now, you guys are praying. Whatever you’re thinking about is prayer.  Prayer is not about chanting something out loud, whatever you’re holding onto in your heart is prayer. If you’re holding onto the worries in your heart, praying with your concerns, then the answer to that prayer is more worries and concerns, but if you hold onto the mission God has given to you, that in itself is prayer. The prayer I’m praying inside, and the prayer I relay to others is evangelism.

God is bound to work according to the covenant He gives, and first and foremost, you will come to life. I’ll tell you again. What do I like?  Am I going to like Christ as the highest value, or is there something else I like?  “Oh, I really like meat?” I’m not talking about liking to eat meat.  I’m saying, whatever you place your value on in life, whatever you like, we can tell by looking at your internet browsing history.  You should like Christ so much that you like listening to His Words more and more.  “But I don’t like that, and there’s something else I like instead,” so I keep going towards that stream because Satan pushes me towards me-centeredness.

“Are you telling me to not look at anything on YouTube?” That’s not what I mean. You have to know that in order to know the world, too, but I’m just saying you’re sucked into and seized by those things because you don’t know Jesus. There are people who fight because of politics and they’ve already determined, “I’m conservative,” or, “I’m liberal,” and such people will only look at videos on YouTube that agree with their point of view, they will only follow and watch YouTube videos that agree with their perspective, and because they already know what they want to hear, they’re bound to fight. They don’t look at things from God’s perspective. God wants His gospel to be relayed through politics, He doesn’t care about the individual candidates themselves. But that’s how much I’m seized by the things I want without realizing it.

That’s why people become addicted and cannot stop themselves.  We keep on doing drugs because “I like it” and “It fits with me.” We keep drinking alcohol because “I like it”, we keep on gambling because “I like it”, and that’s what happens when you go towards what “I like.” It needs to be what God likes and what God desires. That’s the gospel, it’s Christ. You should like listening to the word, “Christ.: Your heart should race at the thought of world evangelization, your heart should race at only the Holy Spirit. The one who goes into this stream changes the stream of the world.

Even if there are churches on every block, they cannot change the world because if the churches are talking about me, money, and success, they are pushing their members into the stream of the world. They say, “if you say ‘only Christ,’ “it’s a headache, it doesn’t fit with the culture of the age,” they say.  They say, “Even when we sing praises, we should sing praises that get people going. Hymns are boring and old-fashioned,” they say this out of their ignorance.  That is how much we’re dragged into the stream of the world without realizing it ourselves.  Then, all your businesses and studies will be dragged in that direction of the world and seized.

I told the Young Adults yesterday, “Why are you getting married? Is it for love?” I’m sure most people marry for love. “You marry them because you like them, right? But where does God come in?” That’s why the families are destroyed because all you care about is, ‘I like them.’” People say, “Who cares what your parents say, it only matters who you love.” You have to do it with the love that God desires. The family that saves the world within Christ is the family God holds onto. But if we say, “me, me,” that’s how we’re destroyed.  It’s not the career I want; it’s the career that has God’s mission, and that’s what God desires.

God’s five powers will follow such people.  May you and I remain within the blessing of changing the stream of the world this week.

Offering Prayer and Newcomer Prayer

God, we thank You. Thank You for giving us material blessings for the purpose of saving lives. We believe the offering we give in faith will be used for the economy to save lives.  God, we believe You will work with the blessings of the economy of light that will save the world through the Temple Construction, missions, and the future generations offering.  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

Benediction

Now may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the unending love of God, the indwelling, working, guidance, and communion of the Holy Spirit, be upon all the people of God who desire to save this world with the faith of missions, be upon the remnants, the multi-ethnic peoples, and the future generations, be upon their businesses, studies, and families, be with us now and forevermore always, amen.
