A Community Centered on the Field Church (Rom. 16:1-16)

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God

A Community Centered on the Field Church (Rom. 16:1-16)

Let us bless and greet one another, “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”  We are finally nearing the end of the book of Romans, and I can see how God has worked in a great way through the book of Romans in the members of our church.  If we do not listen to the words of people but listen to the Word of God, then our spirit will come to life.  If we listen to the words of people, it may be of physical help to us, but our spirit will never, ever come to life that way.

What is the church?  The church is a gathering of people who are centered on the Word of the gospel of Christ.  In other words, they are people who were in the stream of the world, then they received the true answer and gathered in the church.  Then, what exactly is the problem of the world?  The problem of the world is not a lack of food, and the problem of the world is not a lack of knowledge.  In the age of the Old Testament and the New Testament, during the Iron Age or the Bronze Age, the problem of mankind was the same.  The problem of man is not about what we eat, and the happiness of life does not depend on how well or how much we eat.  The problem of life is that we are meant to be with God, but we are separated from God.  Because we are separated from God, our spirit is dead and seized by Satan.  This is a problem that the world cannot know.  That’s why people live without God, centered on themselves, and all of their standards and all of their thoughts are based on themselves, their emotions are based on, “what I like” and “what I don’t like.”  This is the characteristic of people who are seized by the devil, and they live based on what they want.  Because they don’t have God, they can’t even think about what God wants.  They race towards the goal of success, of exalting their name and glorifying their power and glory to the world.  “If this happens, then I’m happy.  If this does not happen, then I’m sad,” this is the stream with which Satan is holding onto the world.

As a result, people choose idols and religions, then they are even more deeply trapped.  All religions and idols are for “me.”  Then, Satan begins to work on their family line through evil spirits, and that is the spiritual problem that goes down the family line.  It’s the same, down their family line.  If you look at your siblings or your parents, there is the same problem through your family.  This is not because you did anything wrong; it is coming from the fundamental, original problem: sin.  Then, as we are growing up in the spiritual background of our family line, we receive a scar, and then that spiritual problem is revealed.  And people are trying to solve this problem on their own so they fall into drugs and addiction, they try alcohol and all these things don’t work, it’s because there is a spiritual problem that is holding its spot.  We cannot solve that physically.  It must be “only Christ.”  When you’re going to church, you cannot believe in just “Jesus Christ,” you must believe in Him as the answer and solution to your life.

The Roman church was a gathering of people who knew the problem of life and the solution, and why it must be only the gospel.  How can you tell if someone has this solution or not?  If we do not have the solution, then we are dragged in the direction of the world, centered on “me,” my things, and what I want.  That person might not have salvation, but even if they do, they have not found their solution.  Because they have not found the solution to their life, they are always dragged around by Satan, and they are obsessed with the visible problems of their life.  For people who have the solution in Christ, where do they focus?  They focus on the Word of God, and the Word of God heals our spirit, soul, and body.  The Word of God does the work of re-creation.  They move forward with the Word God gives them every week, because I am a creation, made to follow the words of Christ.  We do not follow our circumstances and calculations; regardless of those things, we follow His Word.  We don’t know anything else, we only follow God’s Word.  We pray with His Word, then what happens later on?  As much as the Word of God goes into one’s spirit, that person will bear those fruits.

If you do not have Christ as your solution, you will not have these answers.  You might go to church so diligently but you will not have answers.  If someone who has the solution goes into the field, then they will relay that solution to people they meet.  That is the normal Christian.  But if someone just receives salvation and goes to church, that is not normal; they are relentlessly centered on their own thoughts, they are relentlessly centered on their money, relentlessly centered on their success.  That is not a true or correct Christian.  That person cannot change the culture of the world; they will be sucked into the culture of the world.

The church of Romans is not like the modern day churches where they have one building and everybody gathers there.  The version of the church where there is a specific building and everyone gathers on the Lord’s Day to worship, only happened after Rome became a Christian nation, because the Christians were persecuted, so they would never be able to create a temple where everyone could gather and worship.  When was this made possible?  After the Roman Emperor declared the national religion of Rome was Christianity, they began to build temples.  Before that point, what did they do?  Every family and home became a church because they were persecuted, captured, and arrested.

So, as Paul is writing the letter to Rome, he lists a lot of names, and these people are not gathered in one building like they would be today; they don’t know each other because they are all scattered, and so, Paul is telling them to greet one another because they don’t know each other, because back then, they only had their family and their home to worship in.  If you are preaching Christianity in Rome, that makes no sense.  Rome was a nation that had its own pagan gods and worshiped in their own temples, but the churches that were in Rome in the Early Church are the church that God desires.  Each of the families in that region gathered in their own homes and worshiped together.  Even in Mark’s upper room, there were 120 people who gathered in one home.  After that, their numbers became too large, so they scattered to each other’s homes.

The church we see today is people just gathering once a week, and they gather together to worship.  But the real goal is that, even after we scatter back out, we have the unity of the Scattered Church.  Then, what kind of strength is there?  We have the strength to influence the field, because we are centered on the field.  In other words, we have the power to change the culture of the field.  If there is a soldier who cannot fight in battle, that is not even a soldier.  A soldier must be trained to be able to fight in the field, in battle.  But if there is a soldier who is just used to maintain the troops, they are useless in the battle.  But the modern-day churches focus all of their attention on gathering people there, so they create all of these programs inside the church and they try to put all the worldly knowledge into the sermons so that people will listen, because their standard is gathering a lot of people.  This means they are not centered on changing the culture of the field.  That’s why most Christians have no strength or power once they are in the field.

We are supposed to fight and win, we are supposed to testify of the fact that Christ has already won, but in reality, we’ve lost all of that wildness.  They have no strength out in the field, they only have strength inside of the church, and they say nonsensical, useless things.  If that is your standard of the church, that’s a big problem.  So, the churches you’ve seen all your life are not the standard. The churches of the Bible are the standard.

1. Disciple who understood Paul’s message

1) Paul’s letter

(1) Written in the region of Corinth

(2) Cenchreae Church – City near Corinth (Rom. 16:1)

(3) Phoebe – Cenchreae Church deaconess (Rom. 16:1)

So, Apostle Paul is writing a letter to the church in Rome, and they are all gathering in their individual homes, scattered around the regions, and there is one person, a messenger, who is explaining the letter to them and allowing them to greet one another.  Paul wrote this letter to Rome in Corinth, and near the region of Corinth, there was the region of Cenchreae, and this is where he met his sister, Phoebe, a deaconess who was used as a messenger of this letter to Rome and helped unite the churches of Rome together.  During the biblical times, the women of society were not able to be as active as they are today, but that was the standard of the world.  In the Kingdom of God, there is no discrimination between male and female; the standard is, the one who loves God, and the standard is the one who follows and receives God’s Word.  So the fact that Paul is sending Phoebe as the messenger means that he trusts her greatly, spiritually.

2) Phoebe

(1) Roman Church’s recommendation (Rom. 16:1)

(2) Role of delivering the book of Romans (Rom. 16:1)

(3) Worker who understands the content of Romans

So, that’s why in Romans 16:1, Paul says, “I commend to you our sister Phoebe.”  The one who is able to relay God’s message is very blessed.  Sister Phoebe, nowadays would have to take a plane to travel, but back then, she was a woman who had to walk.  Would that be possible?  She’s not a man; she’s a woman.  Think about that.  If she took a plane, she would be there very quickly, but there were no planes.  She had to take books, walk, and find lodging.  In order to do that, she had to be highly trusted, and she must believe that as her mission.

3) Female worker

(1) Roman Church receives her in the Lord (Rom. 16:2)

(2) Help her in whatever she may need (Rom. 16:2)

(3) Benefactor of Paul and many others (Rom. 16:2)

It’s not enough with that, Paul describes her as a “benefactor.”  What is a “benefactor”?  Rom. 16:2 says she was a benefactor to many people, including Paul.  In other words, she had a lot of material possessions; it means, she supported many people with her material wealth.  So, Phoebe was somebody who had enough material wealth to support other people and deliver the message of Paul.  In today’s scripture, we see a lot of women.  Even though the world was so centered on men, in the Kingdom of God, there is no man vs. woman; in fact, if anything, there are more women.  I don’t know why, even statistically speaking, there are more female young adults in churches.  The problem is they don’t get married because there are so many women, and if there is a young man who comes to church, they are served well because there are so many women.  Paul says, “I ask you, receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of His people.”  This lady will have to stay with them, so, “Give her any help that she may need from you.”

2. Churches in Rome’s field

Then Paul lists the names of other people and we can see the people whom God used in the Early Church.

1) Priscilla and Aquila

Romans 16:3 says “Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus.”  “Fellow workers” means that even though they were just laypeople, they were doing their ministry with Paul.

(1) Exiled from Rome (Acts 18:2)

(2) Met in Corinth (Acts 18:1-2)

Priscilla and Aquila met Paul in Corinth.  During that time, the Roman emperor kicked Priscilla and Aquila out, just as Trump is deporting people now, they were kicked out of Rome.  And so, even though Priscilla and Aquila are husband and wife, one of them was Jewish and the other was Roman, because they were married, they both had to be kicked out of Rome.

(3) Industry of tentmakers along with Paul (Acts 18:3)

Their job was making tents, so after they were kicked out of Rome, they went to Corinth which was the second biggest place for business.  They opened up a tentmaking business in Corinth, and Paul also went to Corinth through the Macedonian Phillipi.  Jewish people typically had two or three jobs.  Because the Jewish people were always having to move around for 2000 years, they had more than one job in case one did not work out.  So, because Paul was far from the church of Phillipi, he could not financially support himself, so he was proclaiming the gospel while he was working.  So, Paul started working at this company that was making tents.  The owners of that business were Priscilla and Aquila, isn’t that such an amazing meeting?  It’s such an incredible meeting because Priscilla and Aquila were in Rome, and God used the Roman emperor to deport them to Corinth, and Paul was actually on his way to Macedonia, and God turned Paul’s direction towards Corinth as well.  Maybe that does not excite many people.

There was one time when I went to a Singapore conference in 1997, and there was a conference there at one of the colleges.  There were conferences in the daytime and in the evening.  During the daytime, we would go into the marketplaces to evangelize, and whom did we meet there?  We met one of the students of my college in Singapore, and I was shocked at that time.  I was so shocked that I had come from Korea just for a moment to receive this training, and we happened to meet a student from the same school.  You might just think nothing of this, but I was shocked.  How could it be that I was from Korea, and I happened to meet this one specific student?  And I invited them to come to the conference.

During that time, I was receiving the message regarding Team Ministry, and I realized God prepares the one who will deliver the gospel and the one who will receive the gospel, and prepares them together.  During that time, I was praying to God about what I just do for the rest of my life, and I decided, this is what I must do.  That’s why I remained in Korea; originally, I was just supposed to be there for a moment and then come back, and it was more than just my meeting with the Singaporean student in Korea, this is a moment where God changed my life.

I saw the work of God and there was also another person who was connected with this student who became a doctor in Singapore, and they had come to Korea to receive training.  Then, years later, when I was studying seminary at Talbot, that student was in the library studying in America, and I was so glad to see him.  “Why have you come here? I thought you were a doctor in Singapore,” and this doctor said he was a doctor but he was evangelizing, and realized his biblical knowledge was so lacking.  So he happened to be studying at the same school in America.  Then he said he was going to continue his education in America and then get his doctorate in the UK and then return to Singapore to proclaim the gospel as a doctor.  I have a lot of experiences like this.

2) Fellow workers (Rom. 16:3)

(1) Region of Corinth (Acts 18:4-11)

People you meet are just not random.  If you are living your life just so you can succeed and make more money for yourself, the people you meet will just pass you by, but Paul was going to Corinth to evangelize, and the owner of the business who he was employed to make tents with was a gospel-proclaiming couple, so that precise meeting took place.  Then, what do you think will happen?  Imagine how many customers this business in Corinth had, so, through the clients and customers, these souls were connected with Paul.  This is what you call a co-worker.

(2) Region of Ephesus (Acts 18:18-19)

And then, after Paul did His ministry in court, he was going to go to Ephesus, so Priscilla and Aquila packed up their business and moved to Ephesus, too.  So, they moved to Ephesus and created another tentmaking business there.  Then they did the same business and ministry with Pual, connecting these souls with Paul.  Then, we don’t know where they went from Ephesus to Rome, but what I imagine is that, around the time when Paul wanted to go to Jerusalem, to give the offering to the Jerusalem Temple, then go to Rome, and by that time, the law of Jewish deportation was gone, so Priscilla and Aquila must’ve moved back them.

(3) Told Apollos about Christ (Acts 18:27)

These are the people who declared and gave the gospel to Apollos.  Even though they were just church laypeople, they were at a level where they could give the gospel to Apostles.  I don’t think they had such an in-depth knowledge of the scriptures, but Apollos at the time only knew about the water baptism of John, he did not know about the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  And so, Priscilla and Aquila told him to receive Christ and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Later on, Apollos became a pastor who played a great role in the region of Corinth, so in the Early Church, there were these people who were laypeople but they laid their lives down to assist in the ministry.  If we can stake our lives on something, it means we have found our solution in life.  If you are able to give your life to Christ, it means you have found your answer to life.  Before that point, I’m sorry; you cannot give your life.  When is the devil broken down?  When you realize the life you’ve received is everything, and “I give my life to Christ,” that is when everything comes to life.  Then, everything in your past, your experiences, your failures, your family, and your scars will be used as a footstool.  Because these laypeople were residing in each region, the gospel movement was able to progress.

3) Home churches

(1) Church in Priscilla’s house (Rom. 16:5)

Then, Rom. 16:5, “Greet the church that meets at Priscilla and Aquila’s house.”  How is it that Paul knew there was a church, at Priscilla and Aquila’s house even though he hadn’t been there?  Because that is what they have been doing the whole time, so Paul knew that even in Rome, Priscilla and Aquila would open their home as a church.  Same thing for all of the other homes, they were opened as churches.

If you have a church in your home, it means you are centered on the field.  Nowadays, people gather and do whatever they want, and churches will try all of these programs to gather more people.  But that is the difference between the modern-day churches and the Early Church.  Modern churches will do all sorts of things when they gather together but have no power out in the field.  So, all of these megachurches are filled with people who don’t have the answer to change the field.  They are all living for themselves; they have no power at all.  They cannot break down the culture of Satan.  What is the characteristic of these people?  If they come to church, they look at it with the standards of the world.  “There are not great leaders in the church,” or, “There aren’t a lot of wealthy people in the church,” or, “The church is at such a low level.”  It’s because they are looking with the standards that follow the devil; they can never look with the standards of the life of Christ.  Jesus was born in a manger, and we need the people who can see that correctly.  So how do children look at the church?  The church is the body of Christ, in other words, Christ is the head and we are the body.  But the people who are so used to following after the devil will come to the church and think, “Oh, there aren’t any rich, great, or successful people here.”  The church is formed, following the words of Christ.  That is what the church is, and the person who is able to see that will follow the Word.

What does it mean to follow Christ?  It means to follow the Word God gives you.  You follow the Word God gave you, and you pray with it for the rest of your week.  Our walk of faith is simple, if you have your solution in Christ, then all of your problems are finished in Christ.  Then, if our life is finished, how do we live now?  We follow Christ’s word of life.  During worship, we receive His Word.  What is the characteristic of people who change their field?  They think of the Word, and they apply the Word.  They keep on placing the Word into their heart, but sometimes it feels like nothing is taking place.  I’m sorry to tell you this, but the state of your spirit is revealed externally.  Regardless of what you do, the spiritual state of your family line will go to you.  Then, depending on what is on the other side of this person’s spiritual state, it will be revealed in their reality out in the world.  But what happens if we keep imprinting the Word of God through prayer, into our spirit?  Then the answers are already on their way; then, when the time comes, you’ll see the answers visibly.  Whatever you’re thinking right now, that is your future.  We try to draw or imagine our future however we want, but humans are spiritual.  Our future depends on what is in our spirit. Your thoughts today are the thoughts that will guide your week and your future.  “Oh, I can’t do it,” what happens if that thought gets rooted in you?   Then you will face that circumstance.  “I want to die,” what happens when that goes into you?  Then, that’s always how you think.  Then, that circumstance will come to you and you will want to end your life.  People who have anger, if those angry thoughts are rooted in your heart, then it will end in you killing other people.

What does all of this mean?  What if the Word of Christ is in me?  Then, that is the fruit of your life.  You cannot control your future.  Whatever is inside of your spirit and soul, that is your future.  Then, every time you give worship, the Lord is giving you His Word, and when you hold onto that Word and root it into your spirit through prayer and follow it throughout the week, even if you don’t see anything now, that determines your future.  God will give you the meetings in life, God will allow you to meet people who will receive that answer.  We cannot see God with our eyes, but this is the way God is moving our lives invisibly.  This is what is normal faith, but how do most people think of faith today?  They want to gather together, receive grace, and be moved.  Then, they try to make a choir like some kind of orchestra, and try to be moved by the music, or people try to be moved by the sermon.  What does that mean?  “I want you to touch my emotions.  Instead of me following after God, I want God to move me,” so they make all the circumstances in the church so they may be an inspiration to people.  But out in the world, they cannot play their real role, and that’s why they keep going into the church so they can be moved.  But that’s not what the Roman Church was like.  They were scattered but they had the unity of the Church that changed the culture of the field.

(2) Epenetus – firstfruit of Asia (Rom. 16:5)

(3) Mary – Jew (Rom. 16:6)

Rom. 16:5 says, “Greet Epenetus, who was my first convert to Christ in the province of Asia.”  Then, Rom. 16:6 says to greet Mary, who was a Jew.  So these Jews were in Rome.  Epenetus, even though he was the first convert in the region of Asia, he played a large role.

3. Churches in Rome’s field

1) Multiple kinds of churches

(1) Fellow Jews, in prison together – Andronicus and Junia (Rom. 16:7)

Then, in Romans 16:7, Paul says, “Greet Andronicus and Junia, who are my fellow Jews in prison with me.”  Nowadays when you go to prison, the government will give you your food and clothes, but back then, you had to feed and clothe yourself, so somebody had to go to prison with you.  These are the people who went to prison with Paul to allow him to eat and have clothes.

(2) Aristobulus – King Herod’s grandson (Rom. 16:10)

In Rom. 16:8, it says, “Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord.”  So there were many people, but there is actually someone I want to talk about specifically.  Rom. 16:10, “Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus,” that is talking about that family, and that family is in Rome.  This is actually a descendant of the King Herod, so that means King Herod used to rule over Israel, and his descendant received the gospel and is now in Rome.

(3) Herodion – Slave in Herod’s household (Rom. 16:11)

Then he says, “Greet Herodion, a fellow Jew.”  This is actually a slave within the family of Herod.  So, in the Early Church and in the model of the churches, there is no high or low status, and it’s not specific to one nation, it’s all ethnicities and all nations.

(4) Narcissus – Assistant to Emperor Claudius (Rom. 16:11)

Then, he also uses the household of Narcissus.  Narcissus was an assistant to the Emperor Claudius, and this person was also a slave.  So, this means that the gospel even entered the people who were close to kings and authorities.

(5) Rufus and his mother – Simon of Cyrene’s family (Rom. 16:13)

And in Rom. 16:13, it says, “Greet Rufus and his mother,” who was Rufus?  When Jesus Christ was carrying His cross up Golgotha, He was so tired He fell over, and the one who carried the cross for Jesus was Simon of Cyrene.  Rufus is Simon of Cyrene’s son, and Rufus’ mother is Simon’s wife.  So, Simon of Cyrene just happened to be watching the crucifixion of Jesus up the hill, and was chosen to carry the cross of Jesus up the hill, and through that, the gospel entered his family.  Because we don’t see Simon of Cyrene’s name, I imagine he died and his wife and son moved to Rome.  After that, there are a lot of Greek names, so there is a message God is giving to us through this chapter in Romans.

2) Church where the message is communicated

What is your correct image of the church?  We are not centered on gathering people together.  Back then, they didn’t even have a church building.  Even Mark’s Upper Room, the first church God raised up, was not a church building; it was a home, so they gathered people together into the attic of a large house and there were 120 people.  Because the numbers of people kept growing, they opened up the homes of individual people.  Why do you think God worked that way?  Because it is the unity of the church, centered on the field. The fact that worship took place in the homes of the families in the region, means that the people in that area worshiped together.  They did not only worship together, this was the gathering of people who knew the problem of the field of Rome and escaped with the answer, so it was a gathering of people who knew the problems of other people in the Roman region and were able to give them the answer.

(1) Gospel of Christ – Answer

Why is Jesus Christ the solution to our life?  They knew that reason, and that is what the church must be like today.  People believe in Jesus, but it’s not your answer, so you have to wander around, looking for an answer.  You think that if you succeed, it’s the answer to your life.  It’s not the answer; there’s a lot of benefits to success, but it’s not the answer to your life.  And that’s why, even if you succeed, you’ll have to wander.  God made mankind in His own image, so food and money cannot be our answer.  The problem of mankind is a spiritual problem, so we must have the spiritual answer.  There are many churches, but the people in the churches are committing suicide.  The doctors are not able to know why mental problems happen.

(2) Flow of Word, prayer, evangelism – communication

So, we must have the churches who scatter into the field and give the solution, but we’re not able to.  All of these churches are gathered, centered on the church, centered on “me,” centered on success, centered on material possessions, in other words, they are being dragged into the culture of the world.  We are the opposite of that, we have the solution that sets us free from the culture of the world, and now, our standard is not the words of the people of the world, they are the Word of God.  That must become our absolute standard, only that person can change the culture of the field.  If you’re facing a problem, don’t focus on that.  What is the word God gave to me?  What is God’s plan in this?  That is the person who can change the culture of the field, that is what you call someone who follows Christ.  Christ already has the victory on the cross, and He is with me with all authority in heaven and on earth, and if you follow His Word, then you will have victory, but the devil will tempt you.  He tells you to solve it with your experiences, he makes you calculate based on your environment, he keeps making you do something with an ulterior motive.  What’s the point of going to church, then?  Maybe you have salivation, but you fail in the field.

(3) Church that saves the field

God does not want a church like that.  He wants the one who has the solution to life and follows the stream of His Word.  What does that mean?  It means the Word God gave you on Sunday you hold onto as your covenant, but most people probably just think, “Oh, I received grace on Sunday,” that’s it.  That’s not enough.  You need to receive the Word with God’s grace as your covenant.  What is a covenant?  You hold onto this as a promise for the rest of the week.  God gave it to you as a promise.  No matter what happens, you hold onto His promise.  You think with that, you decide with that.  That is the life of the people of God’s covenant.  Even when you pray, you pray with that promise, then you will see that Word being fulfilled.  And you relay that Word as the solution to your field.  If you have that, then God will allow you to meet people who need that.  That is called evangelism and missions.  That is a “normal Christian.”  You need to have this “normal” in you.  If you’re imagining something abnormal in your spirit, then you’re living the life of an abnormal Christian, but if the image of the normal Christian is imprinted into us, then that is the life we will live.

3) Church where the direction of ministry is communicated

(1) World evangelization through Rome

The churches of Rome were united with a mission to do world evangelization through Rome, because if God gave a nation the power to influence the world, it’s so they can flow out the gospel.  So, if we are living in America, then God has raised us up so that we can spread the gospel to all nations and tribes through America.

(2) Ministry that heals

The mental problems that this age cannot solve, the problems of addiction, of suicide—the church that heals those problems.  Harvard cannot solve this, the White House cannot solve this, professors cannot solve this.  Only the people who have their solution and follow the stream of the Word of the gospel, with that evidence, can solve this.

(3) Ministry that raises the future generations

And the church that saves the future generation and prepares for the future.  That is what is aligned with God.  If someone is not aligned with God, they only think about today, they only think about themselves.  But God is working today, looking into the future.  Yes, elderly ministry is important because there are souls and spirits.  But what about the next generation?  What’s going to happen if we prepare the gospel now, but we don’t prepare the next generation?  God desires to work today, preparing the next generation.  The church for posterity, and the church that designs for the future.  We are losing more and more of the future generation because they don’t have a desire to go to church, because the works of the field are too strong. That’s why we must raise up the posterity.

Conclusion

1. Church that gathers

In conclusion, today’s church gathers.  We worship together today.

2. Church that is scattered

Then, you hold onto the Word of the covenant, and you become the church that scatters.  Throughout the week, we scatter into our fields and relay God’s Word there.

3. Church that is in the flow of gospel, Word, prayer, evangelism, and missions

That is the church that is in the flow of the gospel, the Word of God, prayer, missions, and evangelism.  That is the church God wants.  The number of people is not what’s important because even if you have a million soldiers but they cannot fight, they are useless.  One person can change the flow of the field.  If you have a lamb, then you need a lamb that can give birth to other lambs.  If you have a sheep that cannot give birth, then it will end with that sheep.  We need a church that is able to influence the field, that has that military power.  This is the message God is giving to us, through the church of Rome.  I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ to have victory throughout the week.

Message Prayer
Let us begin praying holding onto the Word we’ve received today as our covenant.

Offering Prayer and Newcomer Blessing

God, we thank You.  We thank You for saving us who were lost in death and sin by the life of Jesus Christ.  We have no choice but to be slaves to Satan, but we thank You for giving us the grace to follow the Word of Christ’s life.  We believe You will work with Your Word and evangelism in our lives to fulfill the Word You have given to us of the church that gathers and the church that scatters.  We pray You will bless all of us so we may become the main figures to change the culture that is centered on the devil and the world, into the culture that is centered on the Word of God, prayer, and evangelism.

We have returned Your materials as offering.  Everywhere it is used, we pray lives will come to life, and we pray You will bless our studies and our businesses to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth.  In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, amen.

Benediction

Now may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the unending love of God, and the indwelling, working, guidance, and fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be upon the heads of all the people of God, the people of all nations, and the future generations who desire to become the community centered on the field church to change the culture of the field, be upon their studies and businesses, be with them now until forevermore and always, amen.
