The Burnt Offering (Leviticus 1:1-9)

Because Jesus Christ gave Himself as a complete burnt offering in order for us to meet with God here, we need to completely burn up our lives, but there’s a lot of people for whom this does not happen.

Starting today, we are going to start Leviticus. When they were determining the title. They thought about what it would be. And so it talks a lot about the tribe of Levi, so they call it, Leviticus.

After the Israelites exodus from Egypt, God gave them the 10 commandments and gave them a lot of laws and told them to make the tabernacle. The God who is in the throne of heaven, said that he was going to be with the Israelites, and told them to make the tabernacle.

Not only is God ruling over us. He is ruling over us with the word he gave us like the 10 commandments. So, we live our lives as the people of God who follow after his word.

Where is the location of the tabernacle, God said to make it in the center. So the Israelites tribes lived to the north, south, east and west.

This means that within the midst of the center of our lives the Triune God is the center of the tribes, we’re following God who is leading the way. So it means that Jesus Christ was leading the way.

Jesus Christ gave the word, but in the midst of all those people. There are people who would forget these words and do whatever they pleased, all they had to do was follow the word accordingly.

Because when we fight, we have to follow after the vision and the words of the commander in order for the soldiers to be lit.

But what’s going to happen if you do not know the word, you are not going to know where to go. And that is why we get beat up by Satan.

Why is it that we don’t go, following the word. It is because we go according to our own thoughts.

And the people who went according to their own thoughts, all died in the wilderness.

In the, meaning that if God is the tabernacle, in the center of our lives. Then, the way to meet him is through our offerings.

So through the sacrifices. What’s the point of him being there. If you can’t go before him

to say it again, we need a life where we receive forgiveness from him, and we receive spiritual strength to get the division. So the majority of the. So the majority of the content of what is in there is how we are going to give our sacrifices, so that we can meet God.

Okay, long as the title is the Triune God is everything and Emmanuel is everything, then how are we going to go into this Emmanuel. This is not something that we can do just by acting.

Because Immanuel only happens when I completely let go of myself.

If I do not let go of myself, then instead of Immanuel I am holding on to myself, if I am holding on to my own thoughts than the words that God gave me are not going to be my Emanuel. So ultimately, we end up repeating the lives that we used to live, while in Egypt

That’s why the worship that is discussed and Leviticus is absolutely so important. It is the most important, because even when they went into Canaan, they did this because they conquered this holy land but ultimately, who did it. It was the Lord God, And in doing this work, we need God’s word, and we need spiritual strength, because later on. David made the temple.

But later on the temple where God resided was ultimately destroyed. So, what a regrettable thing that is because this is the place where God is residing, but the enemies actually came and took all the gold and everything that was in the tabernacle, which means that God is not going to be with the Israelites. And when they failed in this worship How did the Israelites live.

That is why the temple is everything and worship is everything.

But for people who do not understand this, they think, Oh, isn’t it okay if I just come to worship late, or if I just do my individual Bible studies, without understanding individual evangelism. You’re going to fail because anyone can do that, even Buddhists can do that.

But to the extent that this is worship, you have to let go of yourself. Why do you suffer. It is because you do not want to let go of yourself and that is why we are unable to worship.

So as you confirm the word of Leviticus, I hope that you are able to realize and restore what worship. What my worship is because according to the word. God is going to answer you.

What is important is that you need to put your priority in here. Your first your first priority must be come worship, and only then, are your work and your study is going to come to life.

Something that I find regrettable is that, as this organization, continues to press on towards evangelism. They talk about evangelism. And so people get confused about what worship is and what Bible study is.

And they almost think of the Bible study that they do in the field to be the same as the worship that they have at church. But why do they think like that. It is because they have not learned what it means to worship. Give it up, because the message is about how you will go to the message and go to the field with the message, then God will work. So people try that, but ultimately they see that it cannot continue.

Why, because we are only able to continue if God gives us spiritual strength, and he blocks Satan’s attacks for us.

Worship is defined by how they accept worship.

Even though we read the first nine verses. I want to talk about the entirety of Leviticus chapter one.

How are the Israelites going to go before the Lord in the wilderness. It is by offering these sacrifices. Because only when we have worship. Are we going to be able to continue this evangelism movement.

If you consider your business to be better than worship, then that person is already someone who has failed.

Because what is different from that person, going to a Buddhist temple and praying for their business? If your education is more important than worship, then even though later on, you may be able to restore worship, that is already a state in which you are being seized. Because, what is the characteristic of the people living in Egypt. They could not worship.

But Abraham, while he was alone. He was able to worship. And it’s the same thing with Joseph. But after that, there was nobody so what is the result.

Slavery is suffering. poorness is suffering, everything is suffering.

So what is the poverty is suffering. So, what is the point of Exodus. It is to give worship it is to give the blood sacrifice.

Because God is going to receive our worship, then through this worship we are going to receive.

And that is also the strength.

That is why on Sunday. We have to let go of our own words and we have to let go of ourselves why, because the Lord is perfect. And because I believe in that, I do not need anything of myself. There is no need for me to assert myself, because the Lord God is perfect.

If it does not come upon us that this is perfect, then continuously, we are going to see failure.

Why, because to us. God is not everything we say that Jesus is everything but worship is not

Jesus. Jesus Christ was really, really the way to be with him is worship.

But if you are not with Jesus Christ through worship, and you’re just going to be a manual, then you’re actually just enjoying a manual by yourself. That’s not really manual because the Lord is being with me, and is talking about God being with me through the word that he has given. So, we say that the Lord is with us, but we do not the Lord’s word with us.

They do not have right here, the covenant that God has given them.

So still, they say that they are evangelists, but I’m pretty sure that they’re only talking about salvation. Because if you have received salvation, and the Holy Spirit is already boiling in you, then you need to be guided. And we need to receive the word in order to realize how to be guided.

But if you let go of this, and instead think about how you’re going to do your business then it is not a word that is going to align with our lives. And that is the technique that non believers have because non believers do not believe in God. They just have their own plans. I’m not just talking about our businesses but I’m talking about our lives. And because there are a lot of church leaders here. I’m just turning this word here today towards that.

Because, doesn’t mean that just because you don’t have a business, you don’t have to listen to this. No, it turns out, your life is the same, what faith is is believing in the word that God gave you, as truth.

So when I look at people’s three today’s they should be holding on to the word that they actually received, but they just say that they received Christ. I want you to realistically follow the word realistically hold on to it as a promise.

Because the more you circle around it, the more you’re circling around God, why am I saying this because if I want to talk about Leviticus, you must understand this first, we are talking about the method by which God is with you.

Because God is saying that he’s going to be with you and guide you through the word but instead we cast that aside and do whatever we want.

There is nothing that is completely vain but you are absolutely doing useless things.

So the core of Leviticus, is that there are five types of sacrifices. And it is the work that the priest does. And then there is the work for average churchgoers

to get around the table of cookies are the other three, and the other three are about how to be cleaned because at this time there were a lot of sicknesses and diseases. So, there was an offering to keep herself, clean.

I’m sure people who were in the army would know, but because people are gathered in a very small place. They really impress the point of cleanliness because if one person in that unit gets sick, then everyone gets sick, because at this point if God did not tell them. These words, then they would continuously design, they would continuously die of diseases.

And then the content of how to have people set apart by God is in here as well.

In verse one it says that the Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tense of meeting.

And he said, which means that God is always working through His Word. If I asked, Where is God and you may say he exists, but the evidence of that is God’s word.

Because, even the non believers are talking about God. So is the God that you’re talking about the same as the God that they are talking about. Because if the Lord is alive and what is the word that the living Lord is giving, because God is alive, He is continuously giving us the word right now. And he’s giving us the word every week. Why, because he is guiding us every week.

In verse two, he says, speak to the Israelites, and to say to them.

So God gives Moses the word and tells Moses to relay this to the other people to me as a smart young man.

So if any of you bring an offering to the Lord, then bring your offering as an animal from either the herd, or the flock.

So, so pretty much the method by which the Israelites are going to meet God at the tabernacle is to bring an animal, as an offering.

So in verse three, he talks about the offering that is a burnt offering. The first type of offering where you burn, an animal completely. And it is to be an animal, without defects.

The reason why the reason why it has to be a male is because females are going to give birth to continue feeding the Israelites, and it has to be a male without defects because animals without defects are worth no money. So God is saying give something that is valuable.

And it says, he must present it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.

So, how will it be accepted?

Because we are giving this print offering of an animal but what do we do, that makes it acceptable or not. He is saying that we need to give it completely with a joyful heart.

Because if you are very resentful to give it, then God is not going to be happy.

Then it says in verse four. He has to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering. And what does it mean to put your hand on the burnt offering.

It means to put your hand on the head. There’s two meanings behind the ceremony with the animal. The first one is that I am the animal, I am saying that I am this cow.

So I’m saying that, even though I have sinned, and I should actually be the one to die. This calf represents me. So, this ceremony has the second meaning of me, transferring something.

You are completely transmitting over your sin to this animal. And that is that is when the righteousness of God comes upon you.

So that is the burnt offering from falling into the corner. In the past, there used to be burnt offerings, but now we don’t do those anymore, because Jesus Christ was that sacrifice. So why is this necessary for us. Because if Jesus Christ has already accomplished this then why do we need to study about this more.

But God says that the word of the Lord will not change.

Which means that the posture with which we go to God by must also be the same. That is what we have to hold on to. So, we’ll talk about this later.

But in verse four it says it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him.

So, what does it mean that he’s talking about his behalf, it’s talking about the leaders.

Each person in the Israelite tribes had to put their hands on an animal.

So atonement means that this animal is taking their sin for me.

There are people who sacrifice calves, and there are people who sacrifice lambs or goats and other people would sacrifice pigeons.

If your family does well then you have to give a calf.

You’re under that level. And just like me if you’re driving around a Camry, then you have to give a goat or sheep.

But people who would drive around Benz’s would absolutely have to give a calf.

So, ultimately what we’re saying is that, According to your possessions, you should give.

So, what are people who really have no money. Like what should they do, they should give a pigeon, because at this point, they raise pigeons. And they caught them and ate them.

So no matter what kind of pigeon it is, whether they buy it or raise it, they have to offer it to God, because there is nothing free.

God says, Do not come empty handed. And you absolutely have to give this offering.

Because Jesus Christ, absolutely paid the price for us. But God is still saying, Do not come empty handed.

He is saying that in this worship there’s nothing that is free. So come and give what possessions, you may have, and offer them as sacrifices. So, why would God ask us to do something like this. This is what God is like what it is because you misunderstand God, the God you are thinking about is not God. That is an idol. It is the idol of yourself, and you have to let go of the God that you desire, because just because the biblical God makes you feel that you’re clean. Like, you should have the God that you want.

According to what you want. So, what is worship, it is overturning that, because the burnt offering means you are completely burning up your life.

Why should I be burned up you may ask, that is the method for worship. That is the method for our lives. Because just like in the pulpit message, a kernel of wheat has to fall to the ground and die. In order for abundant life to spring forth.

And just like that, if the Lord is with us, then God is going to guide our lives in that direction.

In verse five it says he is to slaughter the young bull before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides to the entrance of the tent of the meeting. So anyone who brings this animal. They have to cut the throat and do everything and sprinkle the blood against the altar.

And because God is trying to show us that we need to kill the parts of our lives that are living in sin.  So, this becomes an animal that I raised. And this animal that is one year old must be killed.

Okay, that’s not really easy to do.

That is why the method of going to the Lord is to completely imprint inside of us that we have been living according to what we want is to skin the burnt offering, and to cut it into pieces.

So it’s pretty much commanding us to skin the animal, and to cut it into pieces, so that each joint, whether it’s the wrists the joints the elbows. shoulders you’re cutting it by the joints.

First, Aaron’s then the priest shall arrange the word on the altar. And then he is to wash the inner parts and legs with water and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering an offering made by fire and aroma pleasing to the Lord.

And there are detection methods and all these there are the 10 commandments that God gave and many other laws that God gave a few.

When against anything then you would have to make this offering. So, he is saying that if you want to go astray from God’s word, then you have to pay for this.

So, to completely burn this offering means that Jesus completely gave his life. And we ourselves to completely give ourselves to the Lord.

Because Jesus Christ gave himself as a complete burnt offering. And in order for us to meet with God here, we need to completely burn up our lives, but there’s a lot of people to whom this does not happen.

Because Jesus Christ has finished everything. I just can’t. Lord with my own thoughts. And, oh, the word is not coming to me right now. But how could it not come to you.

Because if you are letting go of yourself. How could the word not come to you.

But what is the technique for allowing us to come to worship means that they’re lost in their own thoughts, and they don’t know what worship is.

So in the Old Testament times God is saying to let go of everything, and to burn all the burnt off.

God is saying that if you come to worship with just your thoughts intact, that is not worship. Then what’s going to happen, because then you weren’t prepared for worship. Right. You have to receive the word.

In order to receive the word you have to completely let go of yourself. But instead, if you have complicated thoughts. Are you going to be able to continue in worship.

And that is why don’t you try doing this because this is the reason why you cannot change.

I will be the one to remember what a burnt offering means it means to give myself completely to the Lord, because the Lord God gave it to me. Because Jesus gave it to us.

We go to the Lord, and this is because we have to completely give our lives a plan. We need to hold on to this and teach the remnants properly. There are ones who are hardened. I’m sure there’s not much we can do with them. But if we do not instill the importance of worship in these remnants and they only come because their parents, And they are surely going to fail.

 So in verse 14. It says that an offering of either dove, or a pigeon.

So if you look, if you look at look at says that the parents of Jesus pitching to the temple in Jerusalem. So what does that mean it means that they were poor.

But either way, they cannot come empty handed.

We must give our lives completely to God and we need to give her offerings. Completely to God. and you give, according to your circumstances.

Someone complains, God keeps asking us to give something instead of giving something to us. God has already prepared everything in the land of Canaan. Why did God give us the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil so now we’re tempted to eat it, but this is the same kind of question that comes from the hands of sinners. And they’re actually the same kind of they’re actually the same kind of people who say, Oh, I was actually doing well in my life until I met the wrong person. But now my life is turned upside down and the way that they talk, everything is the same kick things off us instead of doing something for us.

Because when God says he’s going to give to me I received grace, but when I ask, why did God make us sinners. By giving us the brutal situation as good and evil.

He should have just not made it at all.

Why did my parents give birth to me and make me so miserable. And all of these people are the same.

What has the church done for us. This is the same for a person. Oh, so, what is it that students are always doing. They are sitting in their chair, advocating

you to my parents, they listen to the people we usually talk they, they say thank you for their parents and for the circumstances they say thank you for the teachers because without you, how would I have been successful. And if you’re able to give things in the street, and it’s different.

So God has already set aside the blessing of world evangelization for us. And he tells us to worship.

We go to the Lord, and this is because we have to completely give our lives to Him. We need to hold on to this and teach the remnants properly. Finding the ones who are hardened. I’m sure there’s not much we can do with them. But if we do not instill the importance of worship in these remnants and they only come because their parents, And we are surely going to fail

It is that I like God want to live however I want.

And I want to live with God’s blessings, but also my own thoughts.

If there are any of you who are thinking, why does God keep asking instead of giving things to me, then you actually a slave.

Why, because you want to be like God, but we are not God. We are creations. And according to God’s righteousness, we are living.

So that is why God is saying come and worship

But can I live with God’s blessings without having to give up these things.

But that is the attitude of a failure.

Because we were created to live according to the Holy Spirit, and his blessings. And that is why God says, Let go of your selfish heart Why has your life continued to have problems. That’s a problem because they are thinking of their own thoughts.

Because they’re holding on to their own problems.

If they let go of themselves they would not be a problem, but because they tried to live according to their own ways, it is a problem for them.

So, if you fail at worship, then you’re going to go out into the field and meet Christ and the disasters, and you’re going to suffer.

So, that is why have some sense of worship.

Receive the strength by going out into the field.

Because then you will live a life where you’re guided by God.

Later on, we’re going to learn about the grain offering.

Because if you do not have success in worship, you’re not going to be able to worship in life.

So when you come to worship I hope you’re holding on to the concept of a burnt offering where you are completely giving your life to God.God has determined, a location and a time. He had to do it twice in a day, they had to do it before. In the morning, and during the afternoon.

The reason why we have worship time exactly on Sunday at the same time is for this reason.

That is why, even the location that it has to be at the door of the sense of meaning.

The difference between a believer or non believer. It is the believer gives worship and the unbeliever does not leave as believers we go before the Lord to receive the strength and his grace, but not believers do whatever they want, have to decide what is going to be the object of your sacrifice. You know, and that is something that you have to do before you come to worship.

But you have to do it with joy in your hearts able to do something joyfully.

Because if you’re giving offering because of your search interest position. And because other people are watching, and you think it is the most appropriate for your situation. Well, you shouldn’t give offering like that. Because God doesn’t care about that kind of stuff he doesn’t care if results or not, could have expanded, where everyone would come to worship.

Giving you the ability to be able to be liberated from your sins and saying that you need to are actually giving.

So with this offering you are actually giving worship, and that’s what it means to give worship.

I was supposed to die but the animal dies on my stead. I’m supposed to die but instead the Lord dies for me.

Because, because all of my son and my desk, has been transferred.

Christ finished everything on the cross, but the posture that you need to have before. To worship is the posture.

To burn your possessions. This means to completely burn your possession. This means that you are going to completely give your life.  Friends, we learned about the first one which is the burnt offering.

Even when I was a non believer, even when I became a believer. I didn’t know what worship was.

It wasn’t that I didn’t know what it was I didn’t know what it really was. So that’s what stunted my growth. Because it turns out there are these normal believers who are seeing some art. For me, I received a lot of word about evangelism so I didn’t know about the word for worship.

I did not, I did not know the importance of things.

It was usually because other believers weren’t going to. But what when it came to evangelists and as soon as they received Jesus Christ, like that was what was impressive to me. The reason why evangelism so much was because everyone is doing enough worship but not enough evangelism.

Some not everyone is doing evangelism but not everyone is to our ship.

When I first became a believer, even those word evangelism hit my heart so deeply. I didn’t know what it was in my heart but when I heard it deeply that’s when it came into my heart. And because of that, I did not really know the point of trust. I knew the importance of field evangelism, but I did not understand the importance of church.

Ironically, so the people I evangelize to in the field. This was the person who pushed me.

If someone was able to follow after me and really be able to attend to people. That would be great. Who would be there to do that for me. But if you’re holding on to worship the entire week, then you are absolutely going to heaven.

Because the evidence that there’s a deal really quickly is that if the words did not come into your heart then that means you have come to worship without having prepared your heart, meaning you came to worship, holding on to your thoughts. And of course, as you live your life.

Things like complicated thoughts may come. But to the extent that you worship you have to completely let go of those things. And that is why we’re telling you to stake your life upon. Because you cannot just do it however you want. That is just taking an advisor, you need to completely stake your life on it.

Let’s say you’re taking the bar exam. Where would you take it any time. Some place close you would maybe get all time and stay close by. Maybe for your driver’s test you’re thinking about this and that but that’s not how we think about worship. But you need to think about worship as receiving the Word of God to be successful.

Throughout the next few weeks, we are covering Leviticus, and the first offering of the burnt offering is about the posture, that we go before God. Because when you go out into the field, nobody can see how you’re living.  So we use to determine if somebody is standing before the word or not.

So we can so we can’t cover all of Leviticus, but we are going to cover the five offerings in worship that we need to do. Mission is through Leviticus, I hope that you’re able to learn about the importance of worship, and relate this to the remnants.

Let us pray. holding on so the word, we have received. Think about the word you received from the pulpit, and today’s word. What is God trying to say to me right now. Hold onto this and pray and apply.
